No, WGL does not provide carbon offsets. But, when you enroll or renew as a WGL Energy Services natural gas customer in BGE, Columbia Gas (Maryland or Virginia), PECO, UGI Penn Natural or Washington Gas (DC, Maryland or Virginia) utility territories, WGL Energy Services automatically matches carbon offsets to your natural gas usage – a 5% match for residential customers and a 3.5% match for small commercial customers. You also have the option to enroll or upgrade to 100% carbon offsets from WGL Energy Services matched to your natural gas use.
7. Do you sell wind power?
CleanSteps® WindPower from WGL Energy Services is electricity generated from regional wind farms in states such as Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland. To view a map of where Cleansteps WindPower came from in 2014, click here. You can choose 50% or 100% CleanSteps WindPower for your home or business. It's an easy, cost-effective way for individuals to help improve regional air quality and reduce carbon emissions.
8. What energy efficiency solutions do you provide for commercial customers?
All WGL Energy Systems government, commercial and industrial customers have free, unlimited access to our Energy Management Platform (EMP) to monitor and track both electricity and natural gas usage and spend. The EMP can help you learn about your energy consumption and assist you in implementing customized energy efficiency measures for each of your facilities to help save money and meet your sustainability goals.
